Spoil the Special Woman In Your Life
Surprise your girlfriend with this romantic and special tour that will tick all the boxes. We are talking: spa, horse riding, kayaking in
Every day will be a new adventure and you will be the most awesome boyfriend in the World: You can thank us later!
Note: This tour is put together by the female team in Goecco with inside knowledge of the best hotels and activities for all the special ladies in the world.
All of this can also be done as separate day tours from Reykjavik if you want a shorter itinerary or just one day of fun. We can also adjust the tour to your girlfriend’s special interests etc. Just pick and choose and we will do the math.
Depending on when you arrive we will start the adventure straight away.
To get that romantic and relaxed holiday feeling going we set out on an easy hike into one of the most beautiful and inspiring areas of Iceland.
We hike into an ancient volcanic crater with bubbling mud, mystical geothermal steam and stunning surreal scenery. It is literally like walking around in a fairy-tale!
About halfway we stop at the geothermal hot-river that runs through the valley to bathe and relax. Here we enjoy some drinks and snacks and good talks. The hot water will surely bring out the big relaxed smiles and “life is good” feeling.
DAY 2 Snæfellsnes, Geothermal Bathing, Sunset & Romance.
Snæfellsness Peninsula and National Park is the perfect wilderness paradise. Here we have wildlife, colorful landscape, rugged lava fields, volcanic craters, black beaches, and one of the most famous glaciers in Iceland.
You will see basalt columns, tiny fishing villages and stand face to face with a troll and the roaring sea on a black pebble beach. We will go through rugged lava fields and into ancient volcanic craters. We will bathe like Vikings in a secret, pristine geothermal hot pool with stunning views.
We stay at Hotel Budir, which is probably one of the most romantic hotels in the world. It is one of the most tranquil places you can imagine with real atmosphere, a roaring fireplace, a telescope for stargazing and one of the most romantic restaurants we know.
After dinner, if the weather is good, we suggest going to the top of Snæfellsjokull Glacier to watch the sunset over the West Fjords. We will bring blankets and champagne or hot chocolate to make the moment extra special.
DAY 3 Snæfellsnes, Horse Riding, Panorama Lodge.
We continue around the Snæfellsnes peninsula to the powerful black pebble beach of Djupalonssandur. As we drive through the lava fields, we will pass small fishing villages, and stop by a local farm to do horse riding by the roots of the famous Mt. Kirkjufell.
We continue back to Borganes and into the beautiful Hvalfjordur to stay at the unique Panorama Glass Lodge with a private hot tub. We will leave you here with a food-basket to enjoy this special place alone.
DAY 4 Hvalfjordur, Sea Kayaking.
We start the morning with an exciting adventure: Sea kayaking on the calm and beautiful Hvalfjordur. We paddle along the coast to enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
You will stay another night at the Panorama Glass Lodge.
Day 5 Golden Circle, Greenhouse lunch, Geothermal Spa.
We then continue our adventure across the mountains to the Golden Circle area. Today we will do the famous three: Thingvellir, Geysir, Gullfoss.
Our first stop is the famous and beautiful Thingvellir National Park and UNESCO Heritage site. The scenery here is amazing no matter the weather! We’ll get a close look at how the tectonic plates work as we follow the footsteps of Game of Thrones into the rift valley between the North American and the Eurasian plate. Thingvellir is also where the first settlers of Iceland founded the world’s oldest parliament Althingi in the year 930. So this place has a special meaning to all Icelanders.
Then we continue to the geysers area with the Geysir after which all other geysers are named. Here we’ll see the lively geyser Strokkur erupt every 5-10 minutes reaching a height of up to 30 meters. And we’ll also have a look at the other geothermal features around it: mud pools, fumaroles, algal deposits, and other mini-geysers. It’s a unique place to see and hear how Mother Earth is alive!
Next stop is Iceland’s most beautiful and breath-taking waterfall: Gullfoss carved out of the lava fields. It’s the largest fall in Europe and some of our guests even say that it’s more amazing than the Niagara falls! Judge for yourself whilst you enjoy the midst of glacial water on your face.
We stop at Fridheimar Greenhouse for their famous, fresh tomato soup, which is to be enjoyed in the greenhouse amongst the tomato plants.
We then continue a little bit further to Fontana Baths to spoil your girlfriend with the healing powers of geothermal steam baths and sauna.
We spend the night at Ion AdventureHotel for a luxury stay. Enjoy the stunning view over the lava fields and mountains from the pool and hotel. Pure bliss!
DAY 6 South Shore, Postcard Perfect Waterfalls and Glacier Hiking, Blue Lagoon.
Today you will see black beaches, basalt columns, huge waterfalls, volcanoes, glaciers, Icelandic horses and colorful, rough scenery.
First stop will be the famous Seljalandsfoss Waterfall and the “secret elf waterfall” inside the cliffs, which is like taken out of a fairy tale and truly magical.
We continue past the famous volcano and glacier Eyjafjallajokull up tour our next stop the stunning Skogafoss Waterfall – famous for its magic rainbows!
And now to the highlight of the day: Glacier hiking! We drive up to Solheimajokull Glacier, put on our crampons and grab our ice axes. As we step onto the glacier we will be reminded of the vast forces of nature and the massive, untameable powers that carved out the mountains and fjords of Iceland. You will see layers of volcanic ash capsuled within the ice, deep crevasses and mysterious moulins. And we will see the visible signs of climate change and talk about how it affects us all.
Next stop is the most stunning and powerful black pebble beach in Iceland: Reynisfjara Beach with its basalt formations and columns that have inspired many landmarks like Hallgrims Church, Harpa music hall, and our National Theatre.
We go back towards Grindavik and the famous Blue Lagoon. We suggest staying at the Blue Lagoon Silica Hotel to get the full experience.
DAY 1 – Golden Circle Our first stop is the famous and beautiful Thingvellir National Park and UNESCO Heritage site.
Every evening we’ll explore the cold winter night and if the conditions are good we will watch out for the Northern Lights, which are often seen right above this area. But it is always up to Mother Nature and the Pagan Gods if they want to put up a show for us…
Then it’s time to rest before the next day of glacier and ice caving adventure.
Day 2 – Ice caving and glacier hiking
We rise and shine early to enjoy the breakfast and a morning brief. Then we hit the road, ready for a day full of adventure. Today we’ll explore the mysterious and stunning Vatnajökull glacier inside out! Europe’s largest glacier – with its gigantic blocks of ice, layers of volcanic dust capsule within the ice and its breathtaking blue ice caves of Skaftafell National Park. And of course the famous Jökulsarlon – also known as the Glacier Lagoon with its ever-changing icebergs and seals playing in the cold water.
Our 4×4 truck will work hard through the lunar landscape and chew its way through rocks, ice and snow to get us there. This is where it will make sense to you why we don’t recommend self-driving in Iceland!
Depending on the conditions of the day and how far we can drive we will do a short hike up to the ice cave. All our guides are specially trained so listen carefully to their safety instructions and always wear your helmet. Once you enter the ice cave you’ll see that it’s simply a once in a lifetime experience in one of the wonders of the world. It’s like standing under a frozen blue ocean or in a frozen cathedral with tones of white, blue. The ice caves are natural structures come and go with the seasons. They are being born in the Summer from the massive pressure of glacial melt-water and can only be accessed in the winter when they empty. That is why the caves are never the same. The first famous cave we found, also known as The Crystal Ice Cave in Skaftafell National Park collapsed years ago. Our ice cave guides find new ice caves in Vatnajökull Glacier and other glaciers each season. As ice caving has become the no. 1 popular thing to do in Iceland, you must expect other people in the ice caves especially around national holidays. All images you see on our website are shot on our tours the past seasons. However, ice caves change every season and are reborn with the meltwater from the Summer season, so the ice caves will NOT be exactly like the images you see here. The images can only be used as a guide. We just have to wait and see what Mother Nature makes for us each season. Glacier Lagoon
We also stop the famous Jökulsarlon – also known as the Glacier Lagoon and a famous film location for Hollywood movies fx James Bond (Die Another Day and A View to Kill). Here you see the ever-changing icebergs in white and blue in the ice cold lagoon – on most days we see seals and birds playing in the water. We will also go to the glacier beach, which we think is actually cooler than the lagoon. Here you can touch the ancient icebergs and shoot amazing up-close photographs. And if you bring whiskey we have ice!
Please note that sailing at the lagoon is not included in the tour and is only possible till the lagoon freezes over. Set foot on the largest glacier in Europe We’ll put on our ice spikes, helmets and grab an ax to do a short glacier walk, which is a mind-blowing experience. You’ll really feel the forces of nature when you walk on the ancient ice, look into deep crevasses, and listen to the sounds of the glacier.
If you are a fan of Game of Thrones you will like this part of the tour, as this part of the glacier was used in the HBO TV-show Game of Thrones. You will now find yourself beyond the Wall with White Walkers and Wildlings lurking around…
We do an easy hike that everyone can take part in just to get a feel of the glacier. Again listen to the guide, listen to nature and listen carefully to the safety instructions.
Day 3 – South Shore Expedition
Then it is time to head back to Reykjavik along the brutal South Shore via the town of Vik. Today you will see black beaches, basalt columns, huge waterfalls, volcanoes, glaciers, Icelandic horses and colorful, rough scenery.
Before Vík, we cross the black desert of Skeidarasandur, and then Laki Lava Field – the biggest one on the planet. You’ll see what it’s like to live in a country with 200 earthquakes a day, 150 active volcanoes and clear signs of climate change. Next stop is the most stunning and powerful black pebble beach in Iceland: Reynisfjara Beach with its basalt formations and columns. Beware that the waves at Reynisfjara are strong and unpredictable and have caused death several times, so it is vital to listen to the guide’s instructions about keeping a distance to the sea and not climb on the rocks. After a short drive, we arrive at the beautiful Skogafoss Waterfall – famous for its magic rainbows! Your camera will love it! And we have more waterfalls for you: Seljalandsfoss Waterfall and the “secret elf waterfall” inside the cliffs, which is like taken out of a fairy tale and truly magical. Our last stop is a famous lava cave – a magical world underneath the rugged lava field. Once again it is time for us to put on our helmets and headlights and explore the inside of mother earth. The cave is just stunning, which is probably also why it has been used as a film location in famous movies like fx Noah. And then we just have a short ride left before we are back in civilization also known as Reykjavik, but 3 days of adventure richer…

“Excellent Private Photo Tour”
5 of 5 stars
Where to begin planning your adventures in Iceland? Start Only With Excellence !!! Halli Hansen, with Goecco was absolutely dedicated and up to the challenge of showing a young professional photographer, my 15 year old son, parts of Iceland free of tour busses and bazillion tourist! My son returned from his private photo tour beyond ecstatic and the photos minus tourist where breath taking. Halli even took photos of my son while on tour and emailed them to us!!! Now how fantastic is that!!!!!!!
After coming down with pneumonia while traveling with my teenage son, I needed to find a company that I felt I could trust. Plus meet the very high standards of a professional photographer. Fridrik from GOecco exceeded all expectation in providing, coordinating and pairing my son with Halli for a private photo tour. Looooove this company!!!!!!!!
Looking for a non touristy photo adventure ? Book your private excursion with GOECCO! If you are luck you might just get Halli Hansen, in fact you should ask for him directly to be your guide for a remarkable experience that all travelers to Iceland should have. Bravo Goecco! Bravo Halli!!

“Experience the Unparalleled Beauty of Iceland”
5 of 5 stars
Our family visited Reykjavik for 2 weeks. We are a very active and challenging family of 12 ranging in age from 5-60 years old with a variety of interests and idiosyncrasies. We booked day tours out of Reykjavik with several companies including 2 tours with Goecco (White Night Volcano Hike and Snæfellsnes & Geothermal Bathing Tour). Goecco itineraries achieved the nearly impossible – taking us to amazing spots while avoiding the crowds. It felt like we were seeing and enjoying these places more like locals than like tourists. Our guides (Anna Frida, Kristina and Selma) and our drivers were all wonderful and made us feel that we were in very good hands. This helped us relax and have a great time. We never felt rushed. We are very grateful for their hospitality and kindness! Thanks!!!

“Hot Springs Volcano Hike”
5 of 5 stars
I surprised my husband for his 40th birthday with a trip to Iceland and booked this hike ahead of time. This was by far the highlight of the trip. Our guides were Kristine and Hlynur — and they were lovely, amazing people who where are very passionate about Iceland. They pointed out berries and herbs along the hike that you could eat and explained how they were used in traditional Icelandic cooking. The hike itself was amazing with the relaxing stop in the middle at the hot springs. There, we enjoyed some tasty snacks and chatted before heading the rest of the way down the trail. I have already recommended Goecco to other people that are heading to Iceland, and I plan on taking advantage of one of their other tours the next trip. Thanks again Kristine and Hlynur for such a great time.

“Iceland Wonderland Private Tour with Goecco”
5 of 5 stars
We are family of 4 (kids 12&10) who travel a lot and are always looking for new adventures off beaten path. This time we booked 3 days private tour with Goecco and we had just a dream vocation! Our driver guide Atli was the best guide we ever had. He met us at the airport at 6am (even though Goecco warned us that earliest pick up was 9am). His knowledge of the places he showed us, his constant attention to every detail, his concern about our safety- and about our fun- was truly one of a kind. This man is a walking encyclopedia- he told us so much about the history of Iceland, glaciers, volcanoes, even types of rocks we came across- and kids loved his stories about trolls and old heroes!
Atli went above and beyond taking us to more places than we ever dreamed to see- and doing his best to beat the crowds (successfully so!). In spite of busy Christmas vocation week he made us feel that we were alone in the beautiful wonderland of Iceland- we found ourselves in an icy cave with waterfall, listened to the glacier slowly moving in the dark of the night and hiked up the glacier where there was no one- just sun, wind and ice… truly unforgettable experience! Atli’s kindness and sense of humor made us feel that we knew him for a long time- and we are looking forward coming to Iceland again in summer and hopefully see our friend again.

“Amazing Private Tour of South Iceland”
We would give Goecco and our tour guide Atli 6 stars if we could for our fabulous private tour of South Iceland. Understanding that a private tour is not for everyone, we still think the value was incredible as we did so many things we never otherwise would have or could have without the flexibility of being on our own, combined with our guide Atli’s enthusiasm to show us every nook and cranny the South coast has to offer.
We saw all the popular tourist sites mentioned on Goecco’s website and then made countless stops in between and beyond that only an experienced guide would be able to show us. We modified the itinerary/order of activities on the fly based on the weather and even went to the same place twice if we could get better pictures. Goecco was extremely responsive and honest about cost and options all the way through the process and they were able to accommodate specific requests – like fitting in a glacier snowmobiling excursion on the last day.
Most important to the experience was our guide Atli, who went out of his way time and time again to share the beauty and culture of Iceland with us every step of the way. “No” was not in his vocabulary and even the little things he did made the biggest difference (from allowing us to use his phone as a mobile hotspot while on the road to making sure we had plenty of drinks and snacks for the longer drives). He shared all of the photos he took over our three days immediately after the tour and we look forward to staying in touch with him about Iceland and beyond. Our thanks again to Goecco and Atli for an amazing experience.

“The only way tour in Iceland”
5 of 5 stars
To those of you reading this review. If you haven’t yet, flip for the private/semi-private tours. The personal attention and relaxing conditions are SSSSSOOOOO very much better than the monstrous public tours…. miss the huge crowds at the sites, the over crowded busses, and the lack of one on one….
Absolutely Awesome time.
