Icelandic Beer & Nature:
Enjoy the Best Two Things in Life!
If you can see yourself sitting in a hot spring surrounded by volcanic mountains and now opening an ice cold beer, which is well deserved because you have just hiked pass bubbling mud pots, surreal landscape, and survived the stare from the odd grazing killer-sheep…
..then keep reading, because the next thing you know you are standing on a glacier with ice spikes and ice axe looking into blue, endless crevasses and tunnels
and suddenly you are speeding across another glacier on top of a volcano on a pretty cool snowmobile…
…until it is beer’ o’ clock and your 4×4 ride takes you to a microbrewery in Reykjavik to taste the local goods straight from the tap. Skál!
Great for a group of friends, bachelor party, father and son, or just a must-do tour for the beer and nature lover, who wants to combine the best two things in life: Beer and Nature.
Day 1: Volcanoes, Rotten Shark, Snaps, Beer & Pizza.
We set out on an easy hike into one of the most surreal and inspiring areas of Iceland. We drive up through some of the most rugged terrains you can imagine. Soon you will see steam coming from the ground.
Here we stop our 4×4 vehicle to hike into an ancient volcanic crater with bubbling mud, mystical geothermal steam and jaw-dropping scenery. It is literally like walking around in a scene from Lord of the Rings! About halfway we
Here we treat you to some very local Icelandic beer
We continue our hike through the volcanic scenery knowing that another treat awaits: a newly opened craft bar & pizza place. We will then drive to the accommodation (selected by you) preferably near Vík. On the way, we will stop at a local alcohol store and show you their wide selection of local beer.
Day 2: Glacier Hiking & Beer Tasting.
Today is the big glacier explorer day! First, you will do an exciting glacier walk onto one of Iceland’s most famous glaciers: Solheimajokull. We put on our crampons and grab our ice axes. As we step onto the glacier we will be reminded of the vast forces of nature and the massive, untameable powers that carved out the mountains and fjords of Iceland.
You will see layers of volcanic ash capsuled within the ice, deep crevasses and mysterious moulins. If the weather is good we’ll bring our lunch and enjoy on the glacier.
And then it is beer o’clock! On the way back to Reykjavik we’ll enjoy the national beer of Iceland. If you are up for it we can make some random stops at some of the best waterfalls in the world and other South Shore highlights. If you want just get back to town, we’ll do that. It is all up to you.
Back in town, we will make a reservation for you

“Best Vacation Money Ever Spent!”
5 of 5 stars
I wanted to take my 10 yr old son to Iceland but since he is on the autism spectrum, I knew general yours would be a nightmare! We found Goecco and asked about a private tour that would be kid-friendly.
We had such a great guide “Atli”! He was fantastic with our son as well as feeding my curiosity about all things Iceland.
Having booked a private tour, we had the freedom to see some of the cool sites that locals know about and avoid the crowded bus tour parking lots.
It was an added bonus that I had another set of eyes on my son helping to keep him safe, yet feeding his curiosity.
We spent a night in their private guesthouse and they cooked a meal that was kid friendly just for us.
We plan on coming back with the whole family and will book another private tour with Goecco!
“Hot Springs Volcano Hike”
5 of 5 stars
I surprised my husband for his 40th birthday with a trip to Iceland and booked this hike ahead of time. This was by far the highlight of the trip.
Our guides were Kristine and Hlynur — and they were lovely, amazing people who were are very passionate about Iceland. They pointed out berries and herbs along the hike that you could eat and explained how they were used in traditional Icelandic cooking.
The hike itself was amazing with the relaxing stop in the middle at the hot springs. There, we enjoyed some tasty snacks and chatted before heading the rest of the way down the trail.
I have already recommended Goecco to other people that are heading to Iceland, and I plan on taking advantage of one of their other tours the next trip. Thanks again Kristine and Hlynur for such a great time.

Just went on the 3-day Goecco tour with my son to celebrate his 25th birthday. We were both thrilled about experiencing Iceland with Goecco. They made it so easy. Kudos to our tour guide, Atli, who was both knowledgeable and respectful of the land. Saw the Geysir ( the Icelandic spelling!) waterfalls, walked on the glacier with crampons, and amazing Northern Lights. Food was good. Modest accommodations were clean and comfortable. We lucked out with a great group. All told, GoEcco’s three-day tour exceeded our expectations.
“Best tour I have ever been on! Hands Down!”
5 of 5 stars
This tour was by far the best thing I have ever done. I travel quite a bit for leisure and I usually don’t do tours. The few I have done were structured and a bit impersonal. NOT so here. From the minute he picked us up Atli treated us to a 5-star tour of the best of Iceland.
We saw things that I would never have riding around on my own. He told us fantastic stories about Iceland from growing up there. He answered all our questions. Each time he took us to a new place he was almost as excited to show it to us as we were to see it.
The best part about this tour is that we didn’t have to drive back to Reykjavik at the end of the day but stayed in southeast Iceland so got to see much more.
When I first looked at the tour I thought it was too high but if you add up 2 nights in a hotel, dinner and breakfast, and three different days of tours in Iceland it will be more than this tour and it won’t be half the fun

“Iceland Wonderland Private Tour with Goecco”
5 of 5 stars
We are family of 4 (kids 12&10) who travel a lot and are always looking for new adventures off beaten path. This time we booked 3 days private tour with Goecco and we had just a dream vocation! Our driver guide Atli was the best guide we ever had. He met us at the airport at 6am (even though Goecco warned us that earliest pick up was 9am). His knowledge of the places he showed us, his constant attention to every detail, his concern about our safety- and about our fun- was truly one of a kind. This man is a walking encyclopedia- he told us so much about the history of Iceland, glaciers, volcanoes, even types of rocks we came across- and kids loved his stories about trolls and old heroes!
Atli went above and beyond taking us to more places than we ever dreamed to see- and doing his best to beat the crowds (successfully so!). In spite of busy Christmas vocation week he made us feel that we were alone in the beautiful wonderland of Iceland- we found ourselves in an icy cave with waterfall, listened to the glacier slowly moving in the dark of the night and hiked up the glacier where there was no one- just sun, wind and ice… truly unforgettable experience! Atli’s kindness and sense of humor made us feel that we knew him for a long time- and we are looking forward coming to Iceland again in summer and hopefully see our friend again.

“Amazing Private Tour of South Iceland”
We would give Goecco and our tour guide Atli 6 stars if we could for our fabulous private tour of South Iceland. Understanding that a private tour is not for everyone, we still think the value was incredible as we did so many things we never otherwise would have or could have without the flexibility of being on our own, combined with our guide Atli’s enthusiasm to show us every nook and cranny the South coast has to offer.
We saw all the popular tourist sites mentioned on Goecco’s website and then made countless stops in between and beyond that only an experienced guide would be able to show us. We modified the itinerary/order of activities on the fly based on the weather and even went to the same place twice if we could get better pictures. Goecco was extremely responsive and honest about cost and options all the way through the process and they were able to accommodate specific requests – like fitting in a glacier snowmobiling excursion on the last day.
Most important to the experience was our guide Atli, who went out of his way time and time again to share the beauty and culture of Iceland with us every step of the way. “No” was not in his vocabulary and even the little things he did made the biggest difference (from allowing us to use his phone as a mobile hotspot while on the road to making sure we had plenty of drinks and snacks for the longer drives). He shared all of the photos he took over our three days immediately after the tour and we look forward to staying in touch with him about Iceland and beyond. Our thanks again to Goecco and Atli for an amazing experience.

“The only way tour in Iceland”
5 of 5 stars
To those of you reading this review. If you haven’t yet, flip for the private/semi-private tours. The personal attention and relaxing conditions are SSSSSOOOOO very much better than the monstrous public tours…. miss the huge crowds at the sites, the over crowded busses, and the lack of one on one….
Absolutely Awesome time.
