Terms & Conditions and agreement between the seller of services:

Goecco Outdoor Expeditions (GOE) and The Guest (TG)

1. General Conditions

1.1 Goecco Outdoor Expeditions (here after GOE) disclaims responsibility for any loss, damage, accidents, or sickness that might occur during our tours. The same applies for any changes in tour schedule due to weather, strikes or any other irregularity outside GOE’s control.

1.2 GOE reserves the right to alter routes, itineraries or departure times, without prior notice, should the necessity arise. In case of any changes in flights (domestic and international), the passenger has to pay any additional cost caused by this, at the time the service is provided (extra hotel nights, meals, transfers etc). We advise all clients to have insurance, as clients are on their own responsibility on optional tours.

1.3 Special friendly note regarding overnight tours in the winter. Leave an extra day in Reykjavik before departure, this is the better half of the Arctic but it is still the Arctic and it rarely happens (twice in 2014) that we can not get back to Reykjavik due to extreme weather. It is always got to hope for the best but prepare for the worst 😉

2. Bookings

2.1 Bookings for individuals can be done on-line through our website. If any problems are encountered while booking please send an e-mail to goecco@goecco.com . Private Tour bookings can be made by e-mail.

3. Terms of Payment

3.1 Full payment is required when you book your service by GOE, the booking is confirmed when you payment reaches our bankaccount.

4. Validity of Prices

4.1 All rates quoted or shown in our tariffs are fixed and in USD.

4.2 After the invoice has been issued the price is guaranteed against any surcharge, unless an increase is due to government laws or currency changes.

5. Cancellation

5.1 All cancellations must be made in writing (e-mail for instance), in conformity with business practices within the Icelandic/Danish travel industry.

5.2 10% of the price of your tour is non refundable, this percentage reflects our cost of booking & preparing your tour.

5.3 Cancellations made less than 2 weeks and more then 72 hours prior to departure: 50% refund

5.4 Less than 72 hours and more than 24 hours: 25% refund

5.5 Less than 24 hours notice: no refund

5.6 No-show at pickup: no refund

5.7 Please note that cancellation of one or more passengers within a group (like family tours) may cause a price increase for the group or a cancellation fee being applied.

5.8 We strongly recommend that our clients purchase a comprehensive travel insurance to cover possible need of cancellation.

5.9 If GOE cancels your tour you get a full refund.

6. Travel insurance

6.1 We strongly recommend that you have travel insurance. You must follow the instructions of your guide at all times.

6.2 Special friendly note: Iceland is a new tourist destination and not up to speed on safety when it comes to general safety especially in the winter. Roads, pathways and all surfaces can be dangerously icy. Bring crampons and wear them!

7. Medical conditions

7.1 When you book you must notify us of any medical condition or medical history and any medications that you are on. In particular, we want to know about asthma, diabetes, heart conditions, allergies to wasp/ bee stings, and food allergies.

8. Liability

8.1 GOE reserves the right to alter routes, itineraries or timetables should the necessity arise, including irregularities due to adverse weather or road conditions.

8.2 No responsibility is taken for losses or expenses due to delay or changes of flights, injury, damaged, negligence, weather, war or other unforeseeable causes.

8.3 The estimated duration of tours as indicated on our website are standard times and can vary according to road or weather conditions. Punctuality is a key objective in GOE operation. However being only humans playing in the Nature, delays may occur for unforeseen reasons. GOE cannot be made responsible for losses that a passenger may face due to delay, regardless whether the loss is direct or indirect.

9. Client responsibilities

9.1 With any outdoor activity, there is an element of risk. GOE operates in remote and mountainous areas. Risks could include hypothermia due to adverse weather conditions, or personal injury or property damage from hiking over rugged and uneven terrain. The staff and management of GOE take all practicable steps to identify and minimize potential dangers. However, you must follow our instructions (and use the safety equipment provided) at all times.

9.2 Adults accompanying any person under the age of 18 must ensure that the underage person follows our instructions at all times. You must release or indemnify GOE and our staff against any liability we incur to anyone else, resulting from your failure to follow our instructions or the failure of any person accompanying you under the age of 18 to follow our instructions.

9.3 GOE reserves the right to exclude a person from a tour at any time if, in the opinion of the guide or operator, that person may be likely to risk the health, safety, or comfort (because of unsociable behaviour) of him or herself, other clients, or the environment.

In such circumstances GOE will not be obliged to offer any refund or transfer of ticket.

10. Comments or complaints

10.1 GOE goal is to provide solid and professional customer service. Should our clients be for any reason dissatisfied with the service provided, either by us or by our co-operation partners, we wish to hear about such as soon as any incident arises.

10.2 Should our client be unable to do so at the time, we request that this is done as soon as possible by e-mail, not more than 20 days after departure from Iceland. If complaints have not been placed within that time frame, compensation rights may be jeopardized.

11. Force Majeure 11.1. The Tour Operator will not be liable for failure to perform any obligation under this agreement if such failure is caused by the occurrence of any unforeseen contingency or circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the Tour Operator, including without limitation internet outages, communication outages, fire, flood, war, Act of God or any other Force Majeure event.
