Glacier Hike, Geothermal Bathing & Global Warming
Price from 295,-USD
On this tour, we will explore one of the most fascinating elements on our Planet: Water and ice. We will photograph it, hear it, taste it and enjoy feeling small and forgetting about the rest of the world for a moment. As we step onto the glacier we will be reminded of the vast forces of nature and the massive, untameable powers that carved out the mountains and fjords of Iceland.
We will also look at how thousands of years of history are simply disappearing in front of our eyes. In Iceland, climate change is not a question of when. It’s a fact. And it’s happening here in Iceland by the hour.
This tour is our mission to enjoy the glaciers whilst they are here because it is one of the most precious things we know in this world.

Explore the Glacier
We will head out from Reykjavik and travel along the brutal South Shore trough huge floodplains past the famous volcanoes Hekla, Katla, Eyjafjallajokul towards the famous Solheimajokull Glacier where we can see the clear signs of global warming. We will put on our crampons and grab our ice axes, hike up on the glacier and soon be surrounded by blue, white and black ice formations. You will see layers of volcanic ash capsuled within the ice, deep crevasses and mysterious moulins. Even when hundreds of meters deep, the ice is always on the move, and strong enough to literally shape the Earth. This is why you should never go on your own. With professional guides and equipment to ensure your safety, though, walking a glacier is an unforgettable experience.
Together we can make history
The most important moment on the tour is when you become part of the history. We encourage all guests on this tour to take photos of the glacier in the same spot on each tour and upload them to our Goecco Guest Glacier time-lapse and help us document global warming.
After the ice hike it is time to explore and enjoy another element: geothermal hot water. After a short hike into a narrow valley we will reach the famous pool: Seljavallalaug nestled into the mountain rock by the roots of the famous Eyjafjallajökull Volcano.
Here we will soak in the oldest manmade pool in Iceland from 1923 and enjoy pure, warm geothermal water spilling off the mountain into the pool and the most scenic view you can imagine. We top it up with some snacks and drinks.
Hike behind a waterfall
Our last stop will be the famous and beautiful Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, which we can hike behind. Standing behind the roaring water is one of those moments you will not forget…
What happens next?
On the way back to Reykjavik we will debate and digest what we have seen on the day.
We don’t know for sure what will happen next. Our planet is on the doorstep of a climate it hasn’t been in for 116.000 years. Back then the sea level was 6-9 meters above what we see today. But the melting of the ice also means new life, new vegetation, new organisms, new bacteria. How will that affect our life on the Planet?
The positive news is that we are here NOW and we get to experience the change and get the chance to actually do something about it. So for us it is all about enjoying it all whilst we can and as much as we can. We hope to create a good debate and create new hope. To share moments with people from all over the world and unite around the conscious change we want to see in this world.
