The Secret Tour
As everybody seems to be copying our tours this is all we can tell you: We will go from Reykjavik to the best ice cave on the day, and explore the area and elements around it. We are currently monitoring all glaciers that are reachable in one day from Reykjavik.
We will go underground into the Earth via ancient lava tunnels drilled by different volcanic eruptions to discover a magical world, underneath the rugged lava field. We will spend around 1/2 hr in the cave.
We will go into the glacier, into the pure ice that has been there for hundreds of years. You will see a million shades of blue, grey and white, as well as layers of ash from volcanic eruptions, trapped in the ice. We have several ice caves in secret locations (please help us keeping them secret). We promise you it will be the best and most beautiful cave we can find on the day!
We will bathe in pure, warm, geothermal water. Either in the wilderness or in a local pool in the countryside. Outdoor bathing is one of the best things about living in Iceland!
We will, of course, make a lot of random stops at interesting places that will make your soul and camera smile!
Ssssssh don’t tell
We were the first company to take people from Reykjavik to the ice caves in Vatnajokull Glacier, and by that, we almost created a monster.
Everybody started copying us and now the caves are as busy as Central Station. So from now on we will keep our ice cave locations secret to give our guests the best experience possible.
Our team of ice cave guides are monitoring the glaciers all year round and finding new ice caves every month. Glaciers are alive and move with the weather and global warming, so the ice caves can change shape and size daily. So our team is always on the look for new ice caves and other glacier formations to show our guests.
Expect the summer caves to be smaller and less blue, but still a great experience!
Is it safe?
No. Ice caving, hiking, climbing or even skiing is never 100% safe. Safety always comes first on our tours! We have all the gear and experience to make the area safe before entering Ice caves.
All our guides are professionally trained and grew up with Icelandic nature around them. They are used to listening to nature and know how it moves. So always listen to their advice and safety instructions. They will, of course, provide you with all safety equipment too.
The tour departs early in the morning from Reykjavik, departure time all depends on the location of the Ice cave and daylight. In booking confirmation documents, you will get all the details, it can be from 06:00 to 08:00 in the morning on a good day.
We will meet at 07:00am by the Leif Erikson statue outside Hallgrims Church.
Dont take our word for it, here are few Tripadvisor comments.
My boyfriend and I booked 2 tours with Goecco: Snaeffellsnes and the 4 elements, and we could not have had a better experience!
Our first tour with Hlynar was the Snaefellsnes peninsula day tour. It was a very long and rainy day (about 12 hours), but Hlynar made sure that we had the full experience! Even in the rain, the peninsula is worth it. Our second stop (my favorite) was a tiny geothermal pool, where our group were the only ones around. This tour company clearly knows all the secret spots. Even though I like to chat (a lot!) Hlynar never got tired of answering my questions. I recommend this tour in any weather!
Our 2nd day out with Goecco we were supposed to take the 4 elements tour, but as we were the only people signed up they could have canceled it. Instead Halli (who looks like he has just stepped off a Viking ship) and his assistant Marcus offered us the opportunity to go search out new ice caves. Seeing this as the opportunity that it was we of course jumped at the opportunity to explore! Halli and Marcus took us up into the highlands to explore the Landmannalauger trail, which can can only be hiked or accessed by a heavy duty jeep. We ended up finding a snow cave, and exploring the surrounding area. It is hard to describe how it feels to enter a cave made of snow that no one else has ever entered… A hint of danger, but mostly awe and exhilaration! That was just one small bit of the whole day. What brought the whole day together was the passion that Halli has for his country, and Marcus’s kind, easy going spirit.(seriously Goecco, permanently hire this kid!)
Our experience with Goecco was real, authentic Iceland! I would not hesitate to recommend this company!
Tour is excellent especially if you have minimal time. The tour takes you to 4 amazing sights over 12 hours. The ice cave is beautiful and unique, the smaller waterfall in the Majestic Canyon is like nothing I have ever seen, the thermal pools are a unique experience, and the lava tube/cave is like being in another planet. The most memorable part of the trip for me was standing in these locations in complete silence. The drips, wind, and other noises are amazing. This trip is good for the family, singles, or couples.
Now for the elephant in the room, Halli the guide. Reading these reviews you notice he is discussed as much as the tour. First and foremost Halli is a talker, especially about himself and Iceland. He has a gregarious personality and enjoys talking to people and laughing. He is the kind of person you either like or dont like. I happen to really enjoy him and what he shares about himself. While giving an in-depth description of the history, sights, and society of Iceland he also shares his personal life philosophy. He makes some very good points about being positive and how to treat your fellow man. My take is that Halli has found inner joy and wants to teach his fellow man what he did to find it.
I would definitely do a trip with Goecco again because of Halli alone. If you are looking for a dull and boring trip or guide this is not the tour for you
Recently went on the Goecco Four Elements Tour with our family. The sites were well chosen and there were some nice personal touches such as stopping to pet Icelandic horses and eating lunch in a restaurant/farm where we enjoyed their superb version of classic Icelandic meat stew. Halli and his assistant were excellent, providing abundant information along the way and taking great care to ensure the safety of the group. Halli took lots of photos throughout the day and kindly emailed them to us when the tour was completed. Would definitely recommend this trip with Goecco!
My wife and I took the 4 Elements tour with Halli in late June. It was one of the many highlights of our 8 days spent in Iceland. We had rented a car, but reluctantly chose to do this costly trip with Goecco. It was well worth the cost. The tour took us to locations that were in no way accessible to anyone without heavy duty 4WD and an Icelandic guide. The ice cave was extremely cool (and remote) and the hot-spring filled pool, waterfalls and caves were only slightly less so. The scenery is otherworldly, despite the rain that fell almost the entire day.
It’s hard to describe the guide Halli. He’s a larger-than-life, almost mythical character with endless stories about Iceland, philosophy and himself. We found him extremely entertaining and when we finished the tour, we asked ourselves “What just happened?”
Overall, I highly recommend the tour. I don’t think that you can get more out of a single day in Iceland than this trip provides.
Take a look at some of our other summer tours!
Leave your hectic life behind, grab your hiking boots and come on a journey for body, mind and soul. You will hike in stunning volcanic scenery and meditate in steamy, hot geothermal water. This a morning tour for everyone who wants to start the day in full bliss and connect with the pure nature and raw energy of Iceland.
